In just a few months, the Telegram app managed to move TikTok and take a leading position. In January of this year, 100 million new users joined Telegram! TikTok was downloaded 63 million times in January 2021, a 3.8x increase over January 2020, according to SensorTower analysis. TikTok came in at No. 2 with 62 million downloads, which is also a pretty good result. Further in the top 5 leaders were: Signal, Facebook and WhatsApp.

It is worth noting that it was the privacy scandal that strongly influenced the results of WhatsApp. Back in December 2020, WhatsApp took 3rd place in all ratings, and in November it took the leading position in the overall rating and in the ratings for Android. The Signal app did not even make it into the top 10 in December 2020, and now it takes an honorable place in the top 5.
